Seems like we are always wanting more space. From selling and upgrading from a starter home to renovating an existing one. Ironically, when asked the main reason people want to make a change the top answer was a bigger kitchen. Well perhaps a more efficient way to achieve this is to eliminate unneeded appliances that already exist and one of the solutions on the rise are semi-portable induction burners.
Perhaps we need to take a cue from our kids away at school on this one because this isn’t a new technology, it has been around for close to a decade but now they have gotten a lot more sophisticated and most of all stylish. With them any space can become a kitchen but even for those of us with an open concept kitchen that we need to keep clean it may be the best way to heat up a snack for the kids without creating more cleanup time than it took to make the food in the first place. Here are some of our favorites that might entice you to give it a try.
Our favorite is the Adriano design “Ordine” $345 which is as stylish as it is efficient. Honestly, this thing looks so cool it is both a conversation piece as well as an appliance. But don’t let the pretty face fool you, this little thing packs some power. It can get up to 450 degrees, hot enough to cook a ribeye steak and has enough surface space to operate a large frying pan.
Eurodib C1813 Countertop Induction Range – At $86 it’s on the low end of the price scale but this is compact, lightweight, and portable. The process is flameless and only heats the pan and its contents so it can be placed in unconventional spaces that you normally wouldn’t consider preparing food. It as LED controls which provide easy use and a digital timer which allows you to preset a cooking time while you cut the vegetables or pour the wine. The cooker requires at least 120V electrical connection for operation.
